 Englewood, sometimes referred to as the “Gem of the Suncoast” is nestled on the tranquil shores of the Gulf of Mexico, and lies just south of Venice and just to the Northwest of Port Charlotte. Englewood is an unincorporated town that makes up much of the Cape Haze Peninsula. The town straddles two counties, Sarasota and Charlotte, and has access to the utilities of both including Fire and Police services. The smaller areas that make up Englewood are, Gulf Cove, South Gulf Cove, Englewood East, Englewood Isles, Rotonda, New Point Comfort, Manasota Key, Gotfried Creek, Grove City, San Casa, and Lemon Bay.
Some of Southwest Florida’s finest schools and hospitals are here in Englewood. There is an extremely low crime rate and the average age of residents is 58. There are some younger families moving into 
the area as the Englewood area has experienced a population explosion in the last 5 years. Englewood is still one of the least developed areas on the Florida Gulf, but it is slowly coming into the 21st century, with new infrastructure and better roads. This place reminds one of Naples 20 years ago. Englewood has a gorgeous waterway called Lemon Bay that is created by the barrier Islands of Manasota Key and Little Gasparilla Island. You will see pristine waters lined with mangroves, dolphins and manatees frolicking in the blue green waters. This area is a boater’s paradise, with many homes having boat able canal, river, or bay access right in their own backyards. If you are not lucky enough to have this access, there are many marinas and boat slips to put your boat in all around the area. The wonderful part of Englewood is its beach, beautiful white sand and easy access from Beach road running out onto Manasota Key. There are Tiki bars and restaurants right across from the beach, as well as the touristy beach shops and jet ski rentals. Englewood Beach has parking, restrooms, a pavilion area, and picnic tables. If you like lots of dining options, Englewood is the place to be with countless privately owned restaurants and diners all around, many of which are on the water. There are not many chain restaurants, other than the normal array of fast foods, pizza, and sub shops. You will find all of the chain restaurants, however, within a quick 10 minute drive to Port Charlotte. Shopping is good here with many places to choose from but if you prefer large malls, Port Charlotte has you covered there as well. Dearborn street in historical Olde Englewood, has many shops and restaurants. This area has a great heritage and old Florida feel. It’s a great place to come and enjoy a good dinner. Housing here ranges from small 2/2 houses for around 200,000 to huge 10,000+ square foot mansions on the ocean in the millions. There are condos, villas, and town homes ranging from 100,000 into the millions. There are countless building lots here, and many different levels of builders to choose from. The Rotonda area is a lovely deed restricted subdivision with moderately to upper priced homes bordering canals and golf courses. All in all this tropical paradise called Englewood has something for everyone. It’s the place that Jason and Amanda Painter call home. We couldn’t be happier here!
