 Grove City Florida is a small area of Florida that only has a population of around 2000 people. The land area is only about 1.3 square miles and is located on route 775 just to the southwest of Englewood. Many local people refer to this place as Englewood and many do not even know it by its proper name, Grove City. As a matter of fact, if it wasn’t for the sign along 775 telling passers by that they are entering Grove City, many would just assume they were in Englewood.
This area was originally a lemon orchard back in the early 1900’s. During a bitterly cold year in the early 1900’s the lemon orchards were destroyed by a heavy frost. The bay that Grove City sits on is called Lemon Bay to this very day. After the orchards were ruined, a small vacation bed and breakfast was built and the fledgling tourism industry began.
Today, there are some nice homes to be had lining Lemon Bay. There are also some manufactured homes in the area but these seem to be getting phased out. Much of what has been said about the Englewood area can also be said about Gove City.
