Port Charlotte Florida is located midway between Sarasota and Ft. Myers on the Gulf of Mexico. The city of Port Charlotte is located on the north eastern side of Charlotte Harbor. Port Charlotte is part of a larger metro area that includes Punta Gorda, Englewood and North Port. The location is close to I75 so a jaunt up to Tampa to see a professional sporting event or concert is within an hour or better. To the south, the Ft. Myers area is less than 30 minutes away. Ft. Myers has a beautiful new airport with many value priced fares to all over the country. Port Charlotte FL is a relatively new city for this part of Florida and therefore it has many newer homes and amenities. There is a large shopping mall, baseball park, and nearly every restaurant chain and shopping chain you can imagine. There are many attractions and things to do here in addition to the wonderful outdoor activities. There is a new center of town project being planned, called Murdock Village. If outdoor activities are your thing, then get ready for golfing, bicycling, swimming, boating, kayaking, hiking, sunbathing, swimming, parasailing, windsurfing, fishing, jet skiing, motorcycle riding…the list goes on and on. If you would rather take it easy, you can choose a quiet restaurant overlooking the harbor and have a tropical drink. You can also get to the nearest sandy beach in under 20 minutes by heading to Englewood Beach or the exclusive area of Boca Grande. How about a deep sea fishing trip or a sunset cruise on the harbor, the choice is yours.
Many of Port Charlottes residents live in the city itself. There are many saltwater canals the zigzag though the city so that you can go boating from your own dock in your backyard. Homes range in price here from about 200k on up. Some supporting areas, still close to the amenities of Port Charlotte are Deep Creek, Punta Gorda, Murdock, North Port, and El Jobean. All of these areas have terrific values on homes in relation to nearly every other coastal area of Florida.
The weather here is just phenomenal, the people are friendly, the housing is fairly priced and the best thing is that it’s not crowded here like the east coast of Florida. This area still seems to be forgotten, and that’s just the way us locals like it!
