Venice Florida is a beautiful place located about 20 miles south of Sarasota on the west coast of Florida. Venice FL has great access to I-75 and is situated right on the Gulf of Mexico. Venice is one few towns on the west coast of Florida that is directly on the Gulf of Mexico, without a barrier island. Venice is widely known for its gorgeous beaches, scenic parks, Italian architectural style and its title of “shark tooth capital of the world.”
Venice is a terrific area to live because it is not commercially overgrown. There are many attractions and things to do, but it isn’t so busy that you cannot get around through traffic. Venice tries to keep its heritage intact by maintaining a historic district that tries to preserve the original character of Venice, FL. The Historic Venice District has an Architectural Revue Board that ensures builders and renovations conform to northern Italy renaissance style of architecture.
The areas outside of the Venice Historic District are very similar to other Southwest Florida cities, with homes consisting of Mediterranean architecture. There are some very fine homes and condos in this area of Florida. If you choose to live on the Island of Venice you will pay a premium for doing so, other out laying areas of Venice are considerably cheaper.
Venice is located in Sarasota County, which in one of the wealthiest counties per capita in Florida. There are wonderful schools, churches, parks, restaurants, and attractions that make this a wonderful area to live in. Venice has a population of approximately 20,000 people and has and extremely low crime rate. Venice was one of the nations earliest planned communities, dating back to the 1920’s. Venice prides itself on its many art festivals, parades, nature preserves, and award wining community theatre.
